COMMUNITY STATEMENT

When I first started my academic career, I wanted to join the robotics world to help make prosthesis available to more people. While this is still a goal of mine, I decided to go down a different path in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. As a person I love to share my knowledge whenever I can, and this change has allowed me to cover more general programming skills that I can apply to a broader range of projects. I will give back to my community as much as I can because without community there is no advancement.
My biggest goal in life has always been to help others as much as I can. As a future graduate of the University of Advancing Technology, I feel like I have learned more than enough do this in many ways both big and small. With these skills I will become a valuable member of the
software engineering community.
Artificial Intelligence is all around us, in cell phones, video games, control systems, even in the cars you drive. Most of this occurs behind the scenes without anybody even knowing. What I want to bring to my community is more awareness to the data that is being collected and better ways of protecting data that doesn’t want to be shared.
I am very passionate about changing the way companies farm the public’s data. Big companies have been collecting data without the general public’s knowledge for quite some time now. I would like to help change this to something not only more widely known but change it in ways that keep people more involved with what is actively being collected. The first and biggest step towards this goal is
raising awareness.
Another avenue I would use my degree to help my community is the local music scene. I have played in several bands over the last 16 years, and I have witnessed some amazing talent come and go. A lot of the turnover of these artists is due to not being well versed in the digital side of marketing and technology which leads to the inevitable burnout. I want to help these artists find that not only is there a whole new level of reach, but exciting ways to achieve it through new technologies. These techniques could even be applied to smaller businesses that are having a hard time breaking into the technology side of things.
In addition to protecting the virtual lives of my s and helping the local music scene, I also want to give back in another way. When I become more knowledgeable and comfortable in my field, I want to create and teach Technology Workshops. These workshops will give community members of all ages access to artificial intelligence, general programming, app development and more. Doing this will allow more people to join the software engineering community and help advance computer science, artificial intelligence, and technology in general. The more people we can get to join this amazing community, the more breakthroughs, and innovations we can have.
I firmly believe that what I have learned in both the React Native and Python courses will help me achieve fast, useable applications for both web and mobile solutions. With these skills, I will give back to my community by spreading my knowledge with my peers and building quick app prototypes. As I gain more experience in these fields, my contributions will only become greater.
